Recovery Through Discovery

“Great minds have purposes, others have wishes.”
Washington Irving

We cannot see New York when looking out of a window in Dublin, can we?

Yet, the Big Apple remains where it has always been, even if we cannot see it at this very moment. To witness it with our own eyes, we must make the effort to travel there.

The same idea applies when we seek to understand our purpose in life. Each of us has a unique reason for being part of this universe, yet not everyone can recognize it right away. When struggling with Eating Distress or Eating Disorders, it is easy to feel disconnected from our significance in this world. However, it is crucial to remember that we all have a purpose. Part of the recovery journey is about discovering this missing piece of the puzzle.

Let’s begin that journey of discovery today.

Start by asking yourself:

  • What difference would I like to make in the world?
  • What small act of kindness can I do for someone today?
  • What positive qualities do I admire in others that I could cultivate within myself?

Keep asking, and in time, the answers will reveal themselves.

Today’s Affirmation: My recovery is a journey of discovery.
