Connections

‘In our hearts those of us who know anything worth knowing know that in March a new year begins, and if we plan any new leaves, it will be when the rest of Nature is planning them too.’

Joseph Wood Krutch

Suffering from an eating distress /eating disorder often means going through life in a constant state of panic and worry, making a big deal out of small negative situations. It can feel as though life is a series of unrelated and uncontrollable events.

Recovery, however, is about seeking and recognizing connections in your life. Step back and observe what is happening in your life now, and then reflect on what you would like to happen. Identify the different areas that have become disconnected and need attention.

For example, the connection between your body and mind deserves more care and awareness. Do not overlook your connection with nature, this can be one of the most rewarding relationships, yet one that is often neglected. Examine your relationships with others and consider which ones need repair. Pay attention to the way you interact with people, how does your treatment of others affect you in return?

Look inward and explore your inner connection. How is your self-esteem linked to your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours?

Everything in this world is interconnected.

The more you recognize these connections, the more you will understand both yourself and the world around you. Your willingness to reach out and connect will bring you a greater sense of well-being.

Affirmation: My mind is receptive to recovery.
