Many of us , sometimes even without realising it, we become experts, masters at collecting evidence of how hard life can be.
We repeat the same thought over and over:
It’s too hard. It’s too difficult. Nothing is working. I can’t do it. That is not fair. And many other similar sentences.
The more we repeat these thoughts, the more familiar they become and we start to believe them more and more. They start to feel like the truth. This doesn’t mean that life is not difficult, yes, it is. Our pain is real, our loss is real and we all get disappointed. Our difficulties in our life do not mean we did something wrong, it means we need to do something differently, especially to think differently, to focus on beautiful things, small things, life is not only difficult and hard, life is as well beautiful, fascinating and full of small wonders.
The sounds of the birds or trees
A cup of coffee and conversation with a friend or a interesting stranger
A flower growing through a crack in the pavement
Kindness of a neighbour
The feeling of being where you are meant to be, even for a split moment
Reminding yourself people who love you
Maybe we need to practice noticing these moments more. Giving meaning to what we do. not just drinking coffee, but actually tasting it, not just walking around the sea, but actually listening to it. When we are with people, maybe just to be there, feel their energy and connection.
Time to stop rushing past beautiful moments because we are busy measuring whether our life is good enough.
Life is not a scorecard, life is an experience to be tasted fully, the bitter moments and the sweet one as well, both are very important.
