Through years of working with individuals recovering from eating distress and eating disorders (ED), we have learned that recovery can indeed be accelerated. Twenty years ago, we held our first workshop on “How to Speed Up Recovery.” Attendees found these workshops incredibly helpful and eye-opening.
Many people fear that recovery is overly complicated, but in reality, our thoughts shape our experiences. The more unworthy we feel, the more distorted and overcomplicated our thinking becomes. When we channel our energy into self-destruction rather than healing, recovery feels impossible. When we shift our focus, recovery becomes a process of self-discovery rather than a struggle.
The more you understand the recovery process, the easier and shorter it will be. Recovery is about learning to navigate life’s challenges without resorting to destructive behaviours. It means finding balance, discovering your true self, and making choices that promote healing
