Be a Tourist in Your Recovery

‘The camera makes everyone a tourist in other people’s reality, and eventually in one’s own.’

Susan Sontag

Did you ever watch a group of tourists going around?

With their guides and cameras they create a wonderful atmosphere in every city. There is a fantastic sense of curiosity coming from them. They are hunting for beautiful and interesting things. They are taking photographs, and trying to fill every minute, as much is possible. They are collecting memories that they can revisit and feel good about later when they go home.

Be a tourist in your life today.

Take a couple of minutes and look back and remember some nice and interesting moments. Then focus on the details.

Ask yourself what did you see and feel at that moment?

Did you hear some sounds or maybe even some music?

Remind yourself how you felt at that time. Allow yourself to wonder and be curious about you.

Maybe it could be even helpful if you pull out some photos from a holiday you had in order to help you recall the good times.

Who said that you couldn’t feel like going on holiday in January?

Affirmation: I will be attentive to every moment of today knowing that each experience is miracle.
