Research shows us that the common thread between all types of mental illnesses is the lack of self-esteem. Other studies show us that the crucial foundation for self-esteem occurs unconsciously at early ages. Our families did not cause our eating distress but their lack of knowledge and lack of awareness has contributed to a large extent to our condition. We need to realise and accept various patterns of our thinking and our relationships and learn to change it because otherwise we will pass them on to our new families. Sometimes we have a tendency to blame our families too much, which is easier than taking responsibility for change. Many situations or influences from our past can be turned to our advantage as well. To achieve this we need to cut our ties with our past and make a decision that we want to be independent human beings with high self-esteem. Today you will do a little bit travelling in the past again. List all the situations that you think had a negative influence on your development. Then make a decision about what are you going to do about it now. Are you going to blame someone? I parent myself today |
