Holiday Enhancing Therapy

The Rediscover Freedom Program is a unique program offered by Marino Therapy Centre that provides an intensive week of therapy in fresh surroundings where sufferers can be free to enjoy new experiences and activities. This program is currently run twice yearly in Lanzarote, however in previous years it has also run in Prague. The program was first run over 10 years ago and is fully supervised, with each trip offering a varied set of activities. Previous trips have included trips to the opera, a workshop facilitated by Professor Hana Papežová, snorkelling in the sea and sight-seeing. The emphasis during these programs is on opening the sufferers eyes to life away from the condition and to give sufferers the experience of being free from the eating distress condition. Due to the variety that each trip offerers, many clients choose to join us on more than one of these trips - all clients are very welcome on any of these trips.

Please note, in early stages of recovery we recommend shorter breaks and the more recovered you are the more you can enjoy longer holidays.

  • Forget therapy, but do not forget what you learned about your recovery
  • Have a medical check up before your holiday so you can go away worry free.
  • Your duty on this holiday is to make the best out of it and have fun
  • Do not pack your negativity in your suitcase, it could be too heavy
  • Instead worrying about how many calories you eat, think how much more you can enjoy yourself
  • Share yourself with people and you will notice just how liked you are
  • Write down your nice moments
  • Take a lot of photos
  • Instead of being absorbed in your condition and negativity, try to get absorbed in the culture and different lifestyles around you
  • Do not feel guilty about anything, there is plenty time for that when you come home
  • Do not starve – you are only shrinking your enjoyment and your self-esteem
  • Drink more water than alcohol, you will feel better the next day
  • Ring a friend or a help-line if your condition gets too much of you
  • Be willing to feel happy
